WHEREVER your interests lie there will always be an opportunity to join in: community gardening, litter picking, a walking group, volunteering at the Birks cinema (for those of us who prefer being indoors!), manning the Thrift shop, be a volunteer driver or befriender, cook a meal for a neighbour. There are lunch clubs, exercise groups and coffee clubs to enjoy. Calling all you crafters out there – Knit n’ Natter, Craic ‘N’ Craft, a patchwork group. How about those musical among us: the Drama Group, acoustic music sessions. There are volunteering opportunities at the Pitlochry Festival Theatre (a volunteer facility to help voice for the deaf), and the Explorers Garden. Just to name a few! Part of the outworking of my passion has been to get involved in North Perthshire’s Health and Social Care landscape with our Statutory Partners (NHS Tayside, Perth and Kinross Council and PKAVS), our Third Sector providers, and our community volunteers. All of our rural communities have volunteers committed to making a difference to those living around them and I have been so delighted to get stuck in – working together to make us more resilient and more focused, helping each other to meet our own needs in our beautiful but rural part of Perthshire.
